What is our Mission?

The Meat Box was founded on the belief that meat could be better, and that Kiwis deserved a better experience. Having access to good quality food is important, it not only fuels our lives, but it has an incredible way of bringing people together.

We’re lucky enough to live in a country that produces some of the world’s most amazing food. New Zealand is famous for its export quality meat, fruit and vegetables and we want Kiwis to be able to experience just how great it can be, delivered to their door.  

Put simply we want to provide fresh quality meat and produce, delivered to your door at consistently great value, New Zealand wide.  Where we can offer great value on complimentary goods such as butter, cheese, wraps, sauces, spices, or other meal ingredients we'll do that too.   

So who owns 'The Meat Box'? 

The Meat Box is owned by Kennerley Gourmet Grocery which is a family owned business based in Auckland. 

Wayne Kennerley is the CEO who throughout his career has accumulated a wealth of FMCG and Online Shopping expertise.  "I believe an online company such as The Meat Box is a great way we can help New Zealanders access great quality food at great value." 

Melanie Kennerley is the COO and is well known in the local community as an incredibly hard worker, passionate about supporting local charities and delivering a genuinely great service. During peak events such as Christmas it's likely you'll find Melanie packing goods with the team to get that last box out on time.  "While we strive to grow our business, we also want to support the community".  Long standing relationships with The South Auckland Christian Food Bank (recipients of our unsold meat and food items), Hospice, Life Education Trust, and Warriors Foundation are testament to that. 

John Kennerley is Wayne & Melanie's son and has joined the business in 2023.  Like his father and mother he has the same hard work ethic. After completing his Finance and Economics major at the University of Otago he is the Business Manager for The Meat Box and has been the driving force in expanding the offer outside of its traditional Meat focus. "Fruit and Vegetables are a natural compliment to our Fresh Meat offer and we likewise intend to focus on delivering great quality produce NZ wide".

The Kennerley family alongside their passionate team are driven to deliver a great eating experience.
